Production Planner (Competition #08-009)


The Production Planner plans and prepares production schedules for manufacturing, analyzes production requirements and plant capacity, releases production orders, plans material requirements and interfaces with internal departments and the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the necessary planning, scheduling, organizing, coordinating, control, direction and liaison necessary to ensure that
       the product requirements, schedules, and sales budgets are met.
  • This position is responsible to the Production Manager for the execution of, and all activities associated with,
       the manufacturing of all products assigned.
  • This position operates in a technical and financial environment. It consists of rapid change and must adapt quickly to changes,
        including re-scheduling and re-prioritization of activities, monitoring of production schedules/budgets and technical corrective
       actions.
  • While this position does not include the direct supervision of personnel, it does require the liaison with, and giving direction to,
        product support staff from the various departments (I.E. Purchasing, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.)
  • Inherent to the position is the need to react quickly to changes in priorities and solve unforeseen manufacturing problems
       or coordinate problem solving teams. This must be done in a cost effective and timely manner in an effort to meet cost, schedule
       and customer requirements.
  • Draw up master schedules to establish lead time to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Analyze production requirements and plant capacity data and determine manufacturing and human resource requirements.
  • Plan material requirements and interface with purchasing to ensure material availability.
  • Interface with customers, when required, to confirm schedule and shipping requirements and provide feedback to customers
       on delivery issues.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • May prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment. May prepare purchase orders to obtain parts and materials

  •       • Capacity Planning, demand management and long term planning
          • Production order creation (MRP entry and maintenance)
          • Delivery processing
          • And some involvement in purchasing and inventory management

  • Review inventories on assigned products to ensure delivery schedules can be met.
  • As required, communicate with the Account Managers, Customer Service Representatives, the customer (where necessary)
       and AROW Global support staff on critical issues such as shortages, missing information, clarification, logistics, etc.
  • On new products, coordinate with cross functional departments (Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, etc.)
        to ensure the successful transition from customer/design to manufacturing.


  • Qualifications:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of Production Planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Have experience using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Have excellent communication (written & oral) and interpersonal skills. Will be required to communicate regularly with customers
  • Have demonstrated initiative
  • Have demonstrated strong planning and coordination abilities
  • Have demonstrated ability to work independently, and with others
  • Be skilled on standard personal computer business software
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication or window manufacturing would be an asset.
